One common feature of the New Organic Species is the mixture of high polish with patina. It adds to the interaction. One’s eye can hardly focus on the inner glowing spaces created by the polished rippled surfaces. The pairs can be displayed very close to each other as in this photograph, or farther apart on opposite ends of a credenza. Pistil and Rock Rose appear to want to fit but they cannot merge. They are yin and yang, positive and negative, lovers and rivals.
