Landscape Reliefs:
The Tree Stands,
35"H x 33"W x 26"D bronze

Thomases inspiration for this final “landscape relief” came from three Van Gogh paintings but mostly based on Road with Cypress and Star, 1890. He focused on the tension between the swirling sky with the bright sun and pulsating stars and the strong terrestrial forms, the trees and the mountains. The sculpture itself is shaped like a pinwheel. A Homo Sapien (that foolish self-absorbed species) is walking out of this awesome world by destroying so many other vibrant bio-systems. The sculpture is mounted in the upper corner of a living room – dining room between 8' and 11.5' above the floor.
