The beauty of trees in nature has been explored by many painters over the centuries but rarely by sculptors. Impressionist painters played with sunlight that bounced off the varied shapes of leaves. Thomases was inspired by the shimmering colors of trees, particularly those in bloom with spring flowers. The trunk has as spiral structure which almost lifts the Abstract Tree into the air.
