Picasso’s well known Self-Portrait of 1906 with the large black powerful eyes was the inspiration for this sculpture in bronze. Thomases chose another Picasso painting, entitled The Dream, 1932, to reflect what those eyes were imagining as he stared out at the world. One assumes, from the phallic shape in the second painting, that the women (with her one exposed breast) is dreaming of him!
