The idea of stained glass in the round outdoors intrigued Matt Thomases. Usually stained glass is viewed from inside a relatively dark space with sun light or the sky giving the glass a “glow in the dark”. It is used to create a religious or contemplative mood. He wanted to create a feeling of joy in nature with sun lit branches reaching for the sky. Some have named the sculpture “Stained Glass in the Sky”.
