Outdoor Steel Sculptures:
Dance Motion II, 10'H

The challenge of creating dynamic shapes in a static medium has been one central theme of Thomases’ work. His recent group, Dance Motions in steel, communicates the thrust, the blur, and the rhythm of dance movements using lines drawn in space. Dance Motion II A and II B are mirror images of one another. They are shown here dancing across a meadow in front of a college arts building. Each one enlivens the rhythm of the other. The metallic silver color adds to the sense of flotation.
